Just as we start looking forward to our family gatherings, plans can change according to the weather. At that time, take a look at our Weather Board to learn of activities for having a good time no matter whether it is raining or the sun is shining. Please take a look at our collection of recommended spots arranged by weather for activities to have a good time. Since the time required for each spot is provided, it makes a good reference for planning the day's activities.
Nature abounds in the vicinity of Ryuusenkaku. In the beginning of summer, fireflies can be seen at the Arima River. During the summer vacation, there are even cases of beetles and stag beetles flying out from the mountains. Since we introduce many various kinds of spots for families to enjoy together in Arima Onsen and surrounding areas, we hope you will thoroughly enjoy your family outing. We have cute umbrellas and goulashes for children to use along with slippers and Japanese flip flops for rental at no charge.

Although Arima Onsen is located within the city of Kobe, it is a place surrounded by nature. From the end of May to the end of June, visitors can enjoy fireflies flittering around the Arima River while beetles and stag beetles can be seen around the inn during the summer vacation.

A prime spot at Arima River for viewing fireflies is a 15-minute walk from the inn. Here visitors can enjoy watching fireflies flying around the river in late May through the end of June.

Beetles and stag beetles appear in the natural areas surrounding Ryuusenkaku around the beginning of July. Because these insects are favorites of children, every year live beetles are kept in the lobby on display in a large water tank (120 x 45 x 45cm).

There are lots of natural surroundings in the Arima Onsen area. There are fireflies in the Arima River from the end of May to the end of June, along with rhinoceros and stag beetles in the area around Ryuusenkaku during the summer. For insect collecting, you can use our insect nets free of charge. Insect cages are available at our Gift Shop for 300 yen. Please inquire at the front desk when you would like to use these items.

Various types of wildfowl appear throughout the year surrounding the area of Ryuusenkaku, and it is quite common to enjoy an impromptu bird-watching session with your children from either the outdoor baths segregated by gender or the private rental baths often used by families.

Various types of footwear are available for small children. Inquire at the front desk when needing footwear such as slippers and goulashes.

We have children's slippers with cartoon characters for indoor use. You can select the design of your choice.

Japanese zori sandals are available for children to wear when walking outside the inn. These sandals make a cute squeaky sound that thrills small children.

Japanese setta sandals, a kind of zori sandal with nonskid heel, are available for children to wear as an added experience of being at a Japanese hot springs inn.

Two pairs of boots for children are available for use. Please feel free to use these when going out on rainy days.

We have prepared two umbrellas for your adorable children to make family excursions enjoyable even on rainy days.

At Arima Onsen, there are those occasions when it suddenly begins to rain and on those occasions a custom of "Arima Loan Umbrellas!" is followed where umbrellas are loaned. Over 2,000 umbrellas for loan have been prepared at 75 locations such as the Kin-no-yu and Gin-no-yu baths as well as the hot springs inns belonging to the Associations. Within the town of Arima, umbrellas can be borrowed and returned at any time. Since Ryuusenkaku has umbrellas at the front gate, we encourage you enjoy a pleasurable walk around the town of Arima even in the rain.
Umbrellas for children are available for rental at no charge at the front desk of Ryuusenkaku.
